Household Hazardous Waste Household hazardous waste cannot be disposed of in the trash!
Something is hazardous if it can catch fire, react, or explode when mixed with other substances, or if it is toxic. When disposed of improperly, these wastes can do serious damage to the health of humans, wildlife and the environment.

Some examples of hazardous waste are:

  • Ammunition
  • Car batteries
  • Leftover paint
  • Medical waste
  • Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs
  • Poisons
  • Solvents
  • Toxic cleaners
  • Used oil

Electronics waste cannot be disposed of in the trash!

Disposal Information

BOPA Drop
The BOPA Drop accepts household and auto batteries, used motor oil, latex or water-based paint and antifreeze. It is open on a drop-in basis at the Vacaville Sanitary Service Recycling Center at 855½ Davis Street in Vacaville on Saturdays from 9:00am to 3:00pm.

Household Hazardous Waste Facility
The Household Hazardous Waste Facility (HHW) located at 855 1/2 Davis Street in Vacaville is open every Saturday from 9:00am to 3:00pm and accepts oil-based paints, solvents, pesticides, herbicides, aerosols, gasoline, auto fluids, and other household toxics. The facility accepts residential materials only.

Recycling used oil in Dixon
You can get cash back for used motor oil at the state-certified used oil collection center at the Dixon Sanitary Service Recycling Facility located at 302 N. First Street in Dixon. Oil filters are also accepted for drop-off, but you will not be paid for them.
